SOLOspin wins top innovation award at CIMES 2010By: Eva Stenersen [Last modified: 23/06/2010 14:02:19] Beijing 23.06.10: Metronor’s new SOLOspin was recognized by the 6th China International Metalworking Summit as a ’Top 20 Innovation’ at the CIMES 2010 exhibition in Beijing.
CIMES 2010 - China International Machine Tool & Tools Exhibition - had nearly 1400 exhibitors from 28 countries and spans all aspects of metalworking including inspection and coordinate measuring.
Knut Aamdal, Metronor’s Vice-President Technology, accepted the award: “We are proud to be recognized this way, as SOLOspin is an excellent example of how Metronor’s technology core and modular hardware and software building blocks enable us to quickly bring to market new solutions that fill customer’s needs. Development time for SOLOspin was measured in weeks from the idea was first discussed until the prototype was fully functional and the patent application filed.”
SOLOspin is a novel camera-based coordinate measurement system that offers the unique combination of handheld probing, full 360 degrees field-of-view and affordability. The system is ideally suited for coordinate measurement especially in enclosed or confined spaces common in e.g. assembly or chemical plants as well as in ships, vehicles, buildings or complex installations such as hydroelectric turbines.
